These are some experiments I made layering different types of wax and ink. I am looking to figure out the right combination and process in order to create a larger piece using these materials.

Primer, ink, sculptors wax, soy wax

Smoothing on the soy wax using a palette knife creates semi-transparent layers

I liked this effect, but the soy wax is brittle when it sets and prone to cracking

Using a janting tool to apply the wax- the lines can be slowly built up in layers

this is coated in a cold liquid wax that is normally used for batik. The wax dried unevenly and was slightly yellowed

sculptor's wax smeared onto a page with regular candle wax dripped on top. The sculptor's wax was flexible and so did not crack when the paper was manipulated, unlike the candle wax

Liquid wax painted on top of sculptor's wax. Unfortunately it didn't adequately adhere to the sculptor's wax and so smeared when touched
