I visited Nottingham Cemetery looking to gather resources and inspiration for my project. I collected some objects and took photographs of the trees and environment. It was a day when I was feeling quite emotional and I felt calmed by the enveloping nature of the trees, most of which had very wide canopies. I wanted to record it so I made a painting of Kaj under the canopy of the tree. The painting itself is not my best work (I couldn't get the colours right), but I felt that I captured something of the sprawling nature of the tree with its gently flowing leaves.
