Lindy Lee is an Australian artist. Her work explores her Chinese ancestry, and philosophies of Taoism and Zen Buddhism. Her processes are often slow and meditative, focussing on small details and building up meaning through repetition. I was inspired by her piece Transformation by Fire in which she built up a pattern of marks made by burning into paper, and the result was very organic and looks like raindrops on the surface of water.
I also admire the way that Lee is able to put her individual works together to create a space that, although being quite simple or quite abstract, still gives the feeling of a natural environment with a specific kind of atmosphere. I take inspiration from her exhibitions when thinking about the kind of atmosphere I want to create in my own exhibition space.
